HEALTH CARE IN CHINA


The thrifty Chinese have always believed that an ounce of prevention--good diet and regular, moderate exercise--is worth a pound of cure.

China was once the envy of the developing world, with hundreds of thousands of 'barefoot doctors' ministering to rural people at little or no cost. Next year, after a break of over 20 years, all Chinese will again have health care...a lot less health care than they had previously, but a start nonetheless.
