China Sets the World's EV standards

TIANJIN - China has led in some fields of electric vehicle standards in the world, and international organizations would refer to Chinese policies when making related standards, said Zhang Jinhua, vice secretary of China Automotive Technology & Research Center.
Zhang made the comments in Tianjin when interviewed by sohu.com at the 2010 International Forum on Chinese Automotive Industry Development on September 4.
"I dare say, no matter in terms of whole vehicle, key components and infrastructure, our standard system has been ahead of most of other countries," said Zhang. "Since the
10th Five-Year Plan period (2001-2005), we have begun the drafting of EV standards. In terms of auto parts standards, we are now doing research in power battery and have finished the standardization draft of single power battery, which has not been done by any other countries."
Since China has become the largest auto market in the world, our standards will definitely influence the world greatly, said Zhang.
"However, independent research does not rule out our cooperation with foreign countries and organizations, which may help the popularity of our standards," Zhang told the reporter. Read more...
